About Us

Rochester Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1927. We have many different men and women who work together to serve out community and neighboring communities in the case of fire, natural disaster, medical emergencies, and more. Our station is staffed Monday through Friday from 08:00 – 16:00 with two full-time staff members and part-timers helping out on the shifts, but there are quite a few volunteers who take time to leave their jobs to help the community and provide further assistance to the full-time and part-time staff during the weekday. All personnel responding to calls outside of those hours are purely volunteer. Just because we are a volunteer department does not mean we skimp out on training or member certification. We have the same state requirements like any full-time fire department has. Our members take time out of their busy schedules to take classes and perform training exercises in order to keep ourselves ready for emergencies.
